It must be love.

Tonight I learned exactly what it means to be in love with your baby. It means that if you come swooping in to give her a kiss on the mouth and she happens to throw up a little in your mouth, you don't get upset. In fact you start laughing about as hard as you can while quickly washing baby puke off your tongue. That's true love. And only slightly, OK completely, disgusting.

In other news... I found out today exactly what it takes to get a teaching credential in CA after Peace Corps service. And what is that, you might ask...Well, you need a written and signed statement from the Country director saying that you taught school for more than 50% of your time in country and a BA or BS from an accredited college. That's it kids. And guess what. I have both of those. When I found that out today I started feeling like I was a marathon runner who got within sight of the finish line and decided that she had had enough and walked off the race course.

Unfortunately, with the pending budget cuts, it is not a good time to go into teaching here in CA. But perhaps it is something I should look into. Perhaps I might have fun teaching Kindergarten or first grade. Perhaps I have finally settled down to do what I have been saying I was going to do from the time I was a little girl.

(Now, getting from the preliminary credential to the clear credential requires jumping through a ton of hoops, including going through the program that I currently work for, but it might be fun. It would probably be worth it.)

And now I am going to use some mouthwash and put the baby to bed.
