Memorial Weekend

This weekend rocked! Not only did one of my Peace Corps friends come all the way down from Seattle to see me (she is staying all week!) I have the week off and I am going to go on all kinds of adventures. We started off by going to Roaring Camp where they were having a Civil War re-enactment (first time I have paid to go to a re-enactment in four years) and to ride the steam train into the redwoods. It was wonderful!! Melly loved it. Mr. C loved it. Ms. S loved it. I loved it! Good times were had by all.

Our first try at a cutout face... Aren't I cute?

Clowning around at Roaring camp.

Tomorrow we are off to the Aquarium (Happy Birthday to me). We have a full week of hot tubs, day trips, and exciting adventures to do. Yah birthday week!!!

Wild fires

I know that the fires in the Santa Cruz mountains have been in all the news recently so I just want everyone to know that we are fine. Our house is no where near the fire. But it makes me all warm and fuzzy to know how many people have been sending me emails and calls since it became national news.

Thank you for caring. :)

These are the socks...

That Fluffy made!

Thank you Fluffy! I love them!!!

The missing piece

Yesterday I did something slightly traumatic. It all started when my baby's doctor told me to get my forehead birthmark looked at. I dutifully went and made an appointment to see my doctor. She looked at it and said "Well, it's changing but probably not cancer. But you should get it removed anyway."

So I made an appointment to see the dermatologist. And yesterday she scraped off the new puffy part (which was why everyone was looking at it). And I have been sporting a beautiful band-aid on my forehead ever since.

It's strange. I never really though about my birthmark before. It's always just been there. And now that it is almost gone, I kinda miss it. (Not all the way gone as I just had her take off the puffy part and not take out the whole thing because I wasn't too worried about cancer but it has been acting funny and I don't like the new puffy version.)

So the next time you see me I will be almost birthmark free.

One more small piece of me gone.

Pictures for Uncle Will

Uncle Will gave me a wonderful onesie when I was born. There was one thing he wanted... a picture of me running a D&D game. So now that I am big enough to wear the onesie...here is my game.

Thanks Uncle Will!!!

(PS Hey Uncle Will, did you notice who my players are? Can they be my friends now?)

What big eyes you have...

Melly went to the eye doctor yesterday. And for those of wondering just what you can find out from a 6 month old...here you go: My baby has a very small astigmatism and a very slight far-sightedness and they are both within the parameters of normal vision. Which means Melly really did get her daddy's eyes! My baby can see perfectly! Yah genetics!!!

Melodee Rose

When Melly was first born she was given a rose bush that is called the melodee parfumee rose. Being as I have a black thumb and we don't have a solid address yet, we sent it to her Grandmother to plant. And here it is the healthy happy rose bush...

And this is what it will look like when it blooms...

Carrots are tasty!

This is quite possibly the best food ever!

Yummy!

I can feed myself, really. I can!

And once more, with style!
