I have opened up an etsy store. For those of you who don't know what that is...It like ebay for hand made items. I realized that I make lots of stuff and I don't need most of it. So to give my fun ideas a good home, I decided to try and sell some of them. If you are interested in checking out my store... click here
Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Words that start with 'B'
Babies! Always a good word to start with. Another 'B' word, bubbles! And this baby loves bubbles. (No matter how grumpy she looks in this picture.) With the wonderful new bubble blower we have (Thank you again Grandma D) we can literally fill the house with bubbles. So much fun!
Booze also starts with 'B'. And thanks to a Christmas present from Grandma C we have tried our hand at making pomegranate wine. We have been through most of the steps (for three weeks) and yesterday poured it through a strainer. So here is our booze, sitting in it's new home for at least a month...up to a year. And then we bottle it. So watch out world, something good might be coming. (Or possibly really bad, we have no idea. But it smells good.)

Babies say "Moo"
Melly and I were looking at a picture book this morning full of farm animals. I was saying the name of each animal along with the noise it makes. She smiled every time I made one of those funny sounds: This is a dog, it says "woof". Then I got to:This is a cow, it says "Moo". And she cracked up. I said "Mooooooooo". She laughed and said "Mooooo". And now any time you 'moo' at the baby, she 'moos' back. Quality time.

Four Letter Word
AKA Melly's first snow day.
Why did we move here? 5" over night and it's noon and still coming down...
Right after these pictures were taken Melly decided to walk intot he snow. She tripped on it and got her hands wet and cold and sat down. That started a crying fit. So two minutes into her first snow day it was over.
Finally a the girl starts showing my likes and dislikes.

Another milestone?
Today we said goodbye to Grandma D. It was a very nice visit and to finish it off Grandma D treated us to lunch. We had our food and were just getting into eating when Miss. Melly started to projectile vomit. Yummy! I had no idea one child could have so much food in her belly. After several bouts, completely covering herself, her daddy, and the table and floor she stopped and gave me the most pathetic look of "I don't know what just happened but I think I might be upset about it". I quickly stripped her out of her outermost layer and then escorted her back to the car where I stripped her completely, wiped her down with baby wipes and re-dressed her in the extra clothes we carry.
I have never managed to deal with another persons vomit without getting sick myself. I am amazed that I dealt with this so well. As did her daddy who cleaned up the restaurant while we were in the car. And in case you were wondering she is fine. We think that she either got something caught in her throat or had a sour stomach from too much lemonade. Either way she is happy, clean and on her way to her afternoon nap.
Thank you for the visit Grandma D. (And all the clothing!) And now we are getting ready for Mr. C's trip to CA next month and Ms. B's visit right after he gets back! Yah!

Choir
Last night I auditioned for a city choir. It was nerve wracking and terrible up until I actually got to the audition. Then I sat in the waiting area with several very nice people and discussed children. After waiting for quite a while (I was there really early) I was called in and...did a pretty darn good job for singing a piece of music that I had to imagine the accompaniment to. (I wish I had a piano, once again something I can have once we have a house of our very own. Oh yah, and don't live on the third floor.) But I only flubbed the last note (mostly because of poor breath placement) and the director said I had a beautiful voice! He called it velvet! (Big old blush from me, than you very much.) I even get to be a second alto! Ah, I love singing second alto. It's perfect. Rehearsals start on the 26th. I am so excited. The best part is that they are on Mondays. Which means that I can go to my WW meeting and then home for a moment before going to rehearsal. A perfect night if I do say so myself.
I am so excited! I can't wait!

Sewing again
When we made our big move I had to get rid of lots of stuff. One of the things I had to slim down was my fabric collection (Much to everyone's surprise). But I figured if it was at least half a year and not bigger than three yards (and something I still liked) I kept it. I was going through these remnants a few days ago and then I went through my patterns (as most of you know I have hundreds) and discovered that baby clothes don't take much fabric (or time). So I busted out everything and here is my first peice of baby clothing.
My favorite part is the pin-up girl fabric on top, however the pom-poms are pretty wonderful too. Wanna know the best part? I finally learned how to use my super easy, one step, time saving button hole maker. (That only took two years, my husband, me, and the internet.)
Soon I will have a picture of her in it along with others. Ah the power of dressing up my baby!!! (Note: Even though the pattern says that she is almost too big for this outfit it is huge on her. She looks like a big old purple pillow...so cute!)

To the park!
Pretty close to our house is an extremely wonderful park. It has two separate play areas (for big and small kids) lots of stuff to climb on, several slides and two sandboxes. Pretty much the coolest part ever. Melly has visited a few times and this was her adventure on Saturday.
First we played on the swings. They were good for a few giggles. But soon we got tired of that and wanted something new.
It seems that all we really wanted to do was walk up and down the ramp leading to the big kid area.
After a few dozen trips back and forth (and a keen grasp of what hand rails are for) we went home for lunch...or to the nearest Target to buy a shower curtain. (Grandma D we are ready for ya!)

"No"
Is learning the word "no" a milestone?
If it is...then Miss. Melly has once again proven that you don't have to be 2 to learn the word "no".
That's right. Every time she gets upset now...diaper changes, temper tantrum, have something taken away...we are treated to an ear-splitting "NO!" Followed closely by several more. Very exciting.
This is fourteen months. I guess we are ahead of the curve. *sigh* Why did one of her very first words have to be 'no'?

Hair
Ever since Melly was born she has had a full head of hair. I have been waiting (with baited breath) until it would be long enough to play with. I got tired of waiting this afternoon. However she got tired of my attempting to put it up. And this is what we ended up with. So cute... I can hardly stand my beautiful hippy chick!
